1st John 3:2
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when He shall appear we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

 

How do we become the sons (children) of God?

We become the sons (children) of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

 

What does it mean to have faith in Christ Jesus?

To have faith in Christ Jesus means to believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ as outlined by God in His word.

1st John 5:1 (NIV)
Everyone who believes that Jesus is THE Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves His child as well.

If you believe in someone it means that you understand and accept their teachings as truth and you follow their beliefs. Everyone who believes that Jesus Christ is the one sent by God to save the people of the world from their sins is born of God and will study His word so that they will understand and accept His teachings and follow His beliefs.

 

Our Appearance

We have no idea what we are going to look like in the future but we know that when Christ returns for His Church (those who believe in Him and follow His teachings) we are going to look like Him.

Philippians 3:20-21 (NIV)
20) But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

21) Who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

 

Observance

In Luke 6:43-44, we are told that no good tree bears bad fruit nor does a bad tree bear good fruit and each tree is recognized by its fruit. Therefore, if you say that you are a follower of Jesus Christ, yet live your life in a way that is the opposite of what God has outlined in His word, you are not a child of God.   

If you are not certain of where you stand in your relationship with Jesus Christ, why not be certain today?

 

A Prayer to Receive Salvation

Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that your Son Jesus Christ died for my sins. I ask your forgiveness of my sins and accept your Son into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour. I believe that you raised Him from the dead and because of this; I know that I can live a victorious new life in Christ. Thank You for my salvation. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Now complete the process of salvation by being baptized.

..Repent and be baptized … in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins….
