Peter 1:18-19
Knowing
that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold
from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with
precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood
of Christ
The Lamb took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the
throne. When He had taken the book, the four living creatures (Cherubims)
and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each of
them had a harp, and golden bowls full of incense. These bowls of
incense are the prayers of the saints.
The
four living creatures (Cherubims) and the twenty-four elders
sang a new song: “Worthy
art Thou to take the book and to break its seals; for Thou wast slain,
and didst purchase for God with Thy blood, men from every tribe and
tongue and people and nation. And Thou hast made them to be a kingdom
and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth”
The
Four Living Creatures
are four Cherubims.
Who are the twenty-four elders that sit on the twenty-four thrones?
- 12 of them are the disciples of Jesus (Matt.
19:28)
And
Jesus said to them (His disciples), “Truly I say to you, that you who
have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on
His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the
twelve tribes of Israel
that you (my disciples) may eat and drink at my table in
my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of
Israel. (Luke 22:30)
- 12 of
them are not identified.
